Accident involving two motorcycles claims life of 20 year old

Motorcycle accidents can be very traumatic, both physically and emotionally. Often, it is not just the victim who suffers; the victim's family faces a great deal of grief too. In a situation where the victim does not possess proper health insurance, the family may have to pay the majority or all of the medical and rehabilitation expenses during the hospital stay, as well as during the patient's recovery period. In a worst-case scenario, the victim may not survive his or her injuries, leaving the family absolutely devastated.

A family from Virginia recently faced a similar tragic loss when a 20-year-old man from that family died from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. According to Virginia State police, the accident occurred when the 20-year-old man's 1998 Honda collided with another motorcycle. An oncoming 1995 Suzuki on Route 662 in Russell County, approximately three hours southwest of Roanoke, was also involved in the accident.

The 20-year-old man was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries a few days later. Family members of the deceased victim set up an account on the GoFundMe website for donations toward the victim's hospital and funeral expenses.

The man who was riding the Suzuki was also injured in the motorcycle accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The police charged the man with reckless driving. According to police, neither of the motorcyclists was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

At such a trying time, it may difficult for the family to determine what needs to be done and in what order. Although thinking straight at such times can be very difficult, the families of victims of a motorcycle crash must not forget that they have certain rights. If the circumstances suggest that the accident was caused by someone else's recklessness, like a negligent driver, the victim's loved ones may wish to consider consulting an attorney. An experienced lawyer may be able to aid in receiving appropriate financial compensation, in order to help with medical bills and the family's other financial needs.
